Playing Big Bass Splash: a calm game that hooks you
I picked up Big Bass Splash expecting a five-minute novelty and ended up keeping it on my home screen. There's something about the cast-and-reel rhythm that's hard to put down.
The controls are the key. Everything is one thumb, and the reel-in has a nice bit of resistance so landing a big catch feels earned. The animations are loud and cheerful without getting in the way.
If I have advice, it's to not rush. The game is at its best when you treat it like a short break rather than a grind. Cast, wait, reel, repeat, and let the progression come to you.
It won't reinvent your idea of what a mobile game can be, but as a relaxed session-filler it's genuinely lovely. I keep coming back to it more than I expected.
